Qualification Requirements Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, computer science, or a related subject. Students with backgrounds in embedded systems or systems engineering are also eligible.
Language Requirements

English: IELTS (min 6.5), TOEFL iBT (min 88), Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE) or C2 Proficiency (CPE) with grades A, B, or C.

German: DSH (min DSH 2), Deutsche Sprachdiplom (DSD II B2/C1), telc Deutsch (min C1), TestDaF (min TDN 4), Goethe-Zertifikat (min B2). English proficiency can also be proven by a GMAT score higher than 600 or if the language of instruction in a bachelor’s program was predominantly English. German proficiency can be shown by a qualification assessment examination or a diploma from a German educational institution.

Application Fee The initial application fee is €75, and for every subsequent application, the fee is €30 each.

 

Application Documents

  • A signed application forms.
  • A personal statement (maximum 2 pages) explaining your interest in the specific master’s program and your choice of TUM.
  • Your current CV or résumé.
  • An essay (about 1,000 words) in German or English on a specific topic (except for MSc. CSE applicants – check program pages for essay topics).
  • The “Analysis of the curriculum” form, available on the application website for the respective study program.
  • Your Bachelor’s degree certificate with a list of courses and grades or an official transcript of records. If these documents are not in German or English, they must be translated and notarized.
  • Curriculum details (module descriptions, course catalogue, or syllabus) from your undergraduate degree (not required for MSc. CSE).
  • Proof of English and/or German language proficiency as per the language requirements.
  • GRE or GATE scores for applicants with a BSc. from Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, or Pakistan (either original scorecard or scores transmitted directly by ETS).
  • Preliminary documentation from Uni-assist for applicants with a bachelor’s degree from outside the EU/EEA.
  • Optional: Certificates from any related professional training or additional qualifications (e.g., research competition participation, internships).
  • A passport-sized photo.
  • A copy of your passport.
  • Confirmation of health insurance, required only for enrolment upon admission.
